Here is a list of some of the public golf courses in St. Louis, we think fit the mold of courses you should definitely go play (according to St Louis News:)
- Fair Oaks Golf Club – it is not far to Caseyville, IL, where this course designed by Masters Champion Bob Goalby, offers a 27-hole semi-public course. The course offers rolling, tree-lined fairways, lakes, mounds and 96 sand traps. There is also a Par 3 course designed to work on your short game.
- Stonewolf Golf Club – this Jack Nicklaus signature course located in Fairview Heights, IL has 5 sets of tees to make this course challenging for all levels. The course has zoysia fairways and tees and bent grass greens that have scenic hills and woods to provide challenges for everyone.
- Quail Creek Golf Club – a Hale Irwin-designed course just 15 miles from St. Louis includes Bermuda grass fairways that provide a challenge for all different levels of golfers. Driving the ball straight is a must on this course as bunkers are very strategically placed throughout the fairways.
- Tapawingo Golf Course – located in Sunset Hills, this course was designed by golf great Gary Player. The course has rolling terrain, good elevations and water. Gentleman’s Quarterly has rated Tapawingo the most difficult course in St. Louis. There are 2 courses: The woodlands course which boasts elevation changes and the prairie nine which is a links style course
